        1. If you care about the web and web performance and also want to work with me as a peer for some reason (I'm mostly kind and productive -- those are good reasons I think), you should holler in my DMs. I'd be extremely happy to talk to you about this gig: catchpoint.com/careers?p=job%2Fo9DWgfwI#Open-Position

Catchpoint has been, overall, a pretty solid job. I'm not stressed out. I don't work OT. There isn't a ton of red tape. It's... _nice_. Also, you get to work on webpagetest.org/ which is an immensely cool tool.

"But Jeff, I'm not a PHP and Python expert" Listen, have you been coding web things for a bit? You'll be highly adept in like 2 months.

What's it take to succeed around here? YMMV, I've been doing this job for 4 months now, so my answer could be very different _BUT_: Do you know your way around web frameworks? How about building stable backend systems? What about refactors?

Have you ever climbed into a big old codebase and just kinda dove around like a raccoon for a bit, pushing things into place so you can instill some of your team's values into it while making sure it stays alive?

Do you like testing? Do you enjoy application monitoring? Do you like to make things boring and reliable and fast to develop on? Then I think you'll really dig this job.

There is a downside. We’re not good at time zones yet. We’re working on it, but we’re not there. The team works east coast hours (me included - 7-3PT). This works for me. It might not work for you. I wouldn’t want that to be a surprise.

I bet you could get away with working UK hours though.
