                        1. I've tried to write this list so many times now and just keep falling into "I've had an incredibly fortunate career filled with wonderful people who have taught me so very much from the very beginning." engineering_bae/1377317751937720322

Massive shout out to filamentgroup - every person I ever worked with there helped put me where I am today. alistapart published me. CascadiaJS gave me my first speaking slot. npmjs surrounded me with brilliant and kind people who taught me new ways to think about the world

ceejbot and i_a_r_n_a both have taught me more about computers than my brain can potentially hold. isntitvacant and a book by littlecalculist made me move from "pretty good at JS" to "Staff Engineer"

othiym23 gave me a quote that I've repeated more times than most any other: "Tech is something that happens to people" and it changed how I write software from that point forward

I mentioned her before, but ceejbot also has been the closest thing to a mentor that I've had during the past 6 years. Her advice during good and bad times has kept me sane. I appreciate working with her every day.

zkat__ taught me community building and about trust and accountability AND put me in my spot more than once on what my role is as a leader. Also reading her code made me understand big refactors.

steveklabnik wrote a book called Rust for Rubyists that I bought and welp now I run a team that writes Rust and those two things are _directly_ connected

katie_fenn is probably the best async communicator I've ever worked with. I'm a manager of a remote team with some level of success because of that.
