        1. The most freeing thing I ever learned was that the “passion” thing is an absolute scam. Always ask why the company is hiring. You’ll learn a LOT. If their answer is only “growth,” pry.         If you get a chance to get specific, do it. What is your position contributing, exactly? How will this bring the business success? What’s their vision for the year? Now. Things change. Plans change. The important part is that they’re made in the first place.

      From there you can poke some more. How long is the onboarding process? What relationships outside of the team are the most important? Who are we, as a team, accountable to? How do we track that? Let’s say it’s OKRs. What percentage are you used to hitting?

      Anyway. It’s a business. They’re not hiring your for charity. They want to make money because of you. Figure out how they plan to do just that and you might just have a steady job for a long while.
