  1. Here's a fun thing to think about, this morning: once the fun startup you work at hits a certain size (and funding), it can no longer function as the "fun startup" you work at. If you managed to tie your identity to the "mission" during that time, this transition is going to hurt

      I have been one of these engineers. You get used to the wild parts of being early in a company. You give up nights and weekends, for the cause. You become the "go to person" for certain things All of this feels good All of this is toxic to you, your team, and your org

        You're likely going to need support during this transition time. Chaotic work environments breed burnout and most of it isn't realized until you hit a period where deliberately slowing down to change things becomes necessary.

          This time where you're realizing that you've been burnt? That's a good time to ask yourself if you're ready for a clock-in/clock-out job. It's a very freeing experience, but is vastly different than what you were doing before. Same position. Same place. Different outlook.
